A colleague at work gave me an old mantel clock that no longer worked. I took out the clock's "guts," which left a terrific round compartment. Recently I've had the urge to include some kinetic elements into my work. I decided on a "tooth fairy" inspired work. Here's a short vid showing the tooth fairy's wings being spread. Although the interior of this piece is nearly finished, this is just kind of a test drive, so to speak, of the mechanics. The round box sits on a columned base (not shown), so if all goes according to plan--yeah, right--the viewer will be able to pull a chain which will enable the fairy's wings to spread.
