Thank You Bente and Bronwyn,

I love a controlled creative environment myself, messy is hardly in my nature, so the least amount of pots of wax or items to deal with suits me best. My studio is filled with oil paint tubes and R&F pigment sticks. I go back and forth and sometimes I experiment with both at the same time.

I don't use acrylic paints in encaustic. It resists the wax and may cause cracking or blisters. I try to be as archival as possible. I know of people using the "Golden" fluids, but that acts more like a stain.

The acid test is..... can you put it in the freezer for a few days without it cracking or blistering. I had an experiment piece that I froze for a week took it out and no cracks or blisters, I then took a rubber mallet to it and it wouldnt budge, nothing, not even a mark. I was shocked and amazed.

Thanks for the video. What did you use to the colour the wax? I seem to remember seeing another post of yours where you said that you used acrylic paints... is that correct?

Hi, I just saw your video today. Thanks for sharing - it's always great to see different techniques! Previously I have only seen encaustics done with thick layers of wax (?) and even though the finished results have been fantastic it has always seemed rather messy to me... So it was great to see it done differently!

Linda, Its a faux finishers brush called the "Neon Leon" It used to be bright neon green when I first got it and is meant to push glaze into the rivers and valleys of a textured surface.

Thanks for posting! Enjoyed it! What was the round brush you were using? I liked the effects you got with it.

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
