I enjoyed watching the process which seems so straight forward and easy but i know what skills are necessary to achieve that result!I also wondered about this small pelletknife you used which seems to work like a pen !Wonderful work as always!

Half way thru the video i could see  the background in several layers of different reds which would make your face jump out of the frame so to speak!Maybe try it out when you feel brave enough or a good photocopy for a trialrun would do!You know i'm always for bright colours and black and white with strong colours are  very dynamic!  Have a great week!

OK here are some links: Sofft tools: http://www.sofftart.com/products.html

Pan pastels: http://www.panpastel.com/products.html

And here is the pan pastel video page (actually I haven't looked at all of these LOL and wil be very useful for me to review!!) - http://www.panpastel.com/learn

Pan pastels are not cheap but they will last a really long time and are a joy to use.

Thanks for your comments again which have spurred me on, love the interaction!

thanks ladies for the compliments!

Bronwyn I am using pan pastel here with tools (I think the trade name is Sofft). They are like small palette knives but have soft sponge covers which you can clean/replace as necessary.

I also use stick pastel and pastel pencil (all chalk not oil).

Will see if I can find a link to pan pastels and the tools, I love using these and maybe other would be interested in trying them!

Thanks for posting Mary, it's great seeing you at work. Could you please explain your use of the pallette knife? Are you using oil pastels? Is the knife just used to blend, or do you actually put pastel onto the knife?

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
