For some reason this message is just now showing up on my screen. Haven't seen this page in a long time, have no idea of how I got here. May not be able to do it again.
Hope you are doing well and enjoying your studiospace! I had to leave my wonderful studio in January and move to another room which I am renting on the resort where we live. It's a great room with large windows and lots of light but for some reason or other I'm having trouble settling in there. I feel all my inspiration has dried out and I also don't have as much time on my own now as I did previously. Work and the tedious task of making money is pulling at me from every direction these days. While I'm waiting for my creative juices to start flowing again I read different kinds of art litterature and buy art DVDs on the internet.
I have a tip on an artist which I think should be promoted on the site. I don't know how many on the site are acquainted with the mixed media/collage artist Anne Bagby. I first became aware of her work and fantastic DVDs about 2 years ago. Anne draws, works with stamps, stencils, masks and selfmade paper and creates wonderful pieces of art. She uses Deli paper to make beautiful patterns which she then uses as collage paper. Anne then glazes her subjects in great color combos. She has made 3 DVDs which are sold through Creative Catalyst Productions, www.ccpvideos.com
Anne is a great teacher, sharing her vast knowledge with her viewers in a friendly and informative way. Her first DVD, Paper, Patterns and Glazing is now on sale for USD 22.95. Needless to say I have all 3 DVDs and keep taking them out and looking at them again and again! She has been a great inspiration to me and I thought others might also benefit from watching her DVDs. Her website is www.annebagby.com. She is also on Facebook.
Yesterday when I first opened the announcement that my photo ""Attribute" 12x12",encaustic" was just featured on Loving Mixed Media" I also saw an announcement about someone coming on board to help with the website, I also saw an announcement about a book, highly recommended reading about gallery owners. Do you know the name of the book? Sorry but I hoped it would be there today but it was gone.
Hi Gary, just had a look on your page. I love what you do, thanks for sharing. I hope all is going well for you now your back home. Good luck with everything.
PS,not been on the site for a while due to personal cercomstances.
hi !!!!I didn't see that my acount was apoved until today .I like the paintings that you do there are very inspiring.Hope one day i can cal my self an artist .I what to ask for the BuBle tecnique i saw it in youtube what is the product that you put on the canvas where can i find it ?
Hello Gary, I just joined the site, and wanted to thank you for being so selfless with your talent. I feel like I've missed so much, after viewing the many techniques. Thanks to you, I'll be buying some spackle, weber turpenoid, and some wood stain, to attempt some of your techniques. Be well!
Hey Gaz, after chatting with you I was trying to find more people to draw and came across this website which I thought you would like: http://www.michaelclark.info/ - go to the page called Wounds and scroll down... before you do the Bacon crucifixion! Also check out the video I added today, love it!!
Hi Gary, I hope you don't mind but I wanted to ask if you could change a site setting. I have realised that many members (especially new ones) who are unfamiliar with posting discussions etc, actually CAN'T SEE the "view all discussions" and "add discussion" button on the bar at the bottom of the panel - the bar is a dark brown and the text is so dark as to be all but invisible. Could you change the colour of the text so it shows? Would help enormously in showing people how to post things...
So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).
I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
