Went treasure hunting today at a friends warehouse. (some people might call it dumpster diving) Found lots of good stuff for new assemblages. It is so amazing what makes some of us happy. A little rust, some old cardboard. Wood!!!! found the top of an old table..small, heavy, but it will make a wonderful box for a new piece of "art". It even has a brace in the middle that will give me two spaces to work in. wooohooo!
I also made gesso today. It is so expensive, but the recipe on the net worked. Someone had given me several gallons of bubblegum pink paint, yuk !!, but it made wonderful gesso. It will be a good ground to work on.

Lol, you should see my attic!!!! I don't let my sons see it. They think I am a "hoarder" now. It is organized chaos tho..

Hi Darlene Next Monday I am taking my friends to an auction viewing day. This is usually when my purse tries to make a run for it, so the money I don't have can stay in the purse!! Its a general auction of house clearance stuff, so you never know what is going to come up. Also it's boot sale (yard/junk sale) time and so far I've managed to steer clear of those as my place is bursting at the seams already.

I don't remember where I saw the recipe, but it was 3 parts paint, one part plaster of paris, and some white glue. This batch is the consistency of cream. I will probably make the next batch a little thicker,'cause I like to use a pallet knife to put it on with. You can use any color of paint, just be sure it is water based. I didn't have one of the gizmos that you put on your drill, so I used a whisk. Worked great.

ooooooo what a fun day! I love your sentence: "It is so amazing what makes some of us happy." I think that all the time.. Such a little thing and so much happiness.... I always think this when relationships do not work out. What was the problem? When you get down to the basics of happiness it oughta be a snap to work it out with others.. but its isn't a snap at all.............

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
