For me spring is a time for renewal. A time to clean out the cobwebs of winter, plant seeds and get my house in order. It is also a good time to put my business affairs in order. With my taxes filed, next on my list was to finish my new website. My old web host only allowed me a small amount of space and I had to use their templates. I tried to modify them to suit my needs for almost 6 months and finally gave up. I changed hosts with unlimited space and the option to create my own site. I'm not that computer savvy so I bought a program to help me.. It took me awhile to grasp the fundamentals (still not sure, I've done everything right),but I'm now published online http://www.evamacie.com/ The only thing still hanging is my domain transfer. It expires in 5 days so I'm cutting it close......
In the process of doing all of this I noticed that my site appeared different on all three of my monitors. Two are LCD's and the old one is phosphorus.I discovered my monitors needed calibrating. Very important
if you are sending discs to enter shows and also if you are printing images to show and sell. If you and only see black instead of the harlequin print below you may need to calibrate yours. Go to my blog for links on how to do it.;

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
