It has been awhile since I posted a blog, but I felt I needed to get back to it again. As one of the senior members and I am speaking of age,(I may be the oldest), I have many personal issues that slow me down. It is important to me to stay a member in good standing as the inspiration from LMM, especially since Gary returned from Australia, keeps me going.

One of the many things one faces in their twilight years is the time has come to put “one’s house in order”, ( Mary Baker Eddy). I have started cleaning out and disposing of and giving away hoards of materials that I will probably never use again. I am also trying not but any new supplies but use what I have on hand. I plan to keep all painting, collages, etc on flat surfaces so they can be easily shipped or stored. I am creating my own portfolios out of left over acetate envelopes and mat board that I used at art shows. I started creating collages in journals that have been sitting around empty for years. All of this has kept me busy and my studio is a mess! The more I dig out the more it looks like I have! One thing I learned is to use up that precious paint, as it does not keep forever. I had to throw out a lot of dried up expensive paint. How I regret not using it more freely. Lesson, do not buy more than you need or will use in the near future. Enjoy it now!

Yes, Donna, I agree that it's fun to give things away. It was hard to do when I was doing the shows as I always thought I might need it, but now that I've retired from the shows and only do a few things online, I'm thrilled when someone appreciates my cast offs. My grandson is a budding artist and he gets most of it.

I need to do the same thing...thanks for the inspiration! I have so much stuff that I couldn't possibly use it all in my lifetime since I am not as prolific as many on this site. My experience has shown that even sorting through things can be inspiring. I can't even count the times I have had Eureka moments while going through things, sometimes finding buried things I had bought some time ago and was wondering where the heck it was! It's fun to uncover treasures...feels like a birthday or Christmas sometimes. There is satisfaction in seeing others get excited because you gave them something to be creative with.

You are so right Joan, but I must say I enjoyed life, almost excess, but I have few regrets.

Enjoy it now! That applies to everything in life.

Glad to hear you are still creating.

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
