A few of my works out in the world.
Perhaps they will inspire some new techniques for hair color.

Thanks Lea. It sounds like fun to work with Gary one on one. I'm always open to creative and critical input and at some point would really like to work with some other locals artists, perhaps painting together and giving feedback about each others work. Did someone just say "paint party"?

Thanks so much everyone. Yeah, this has been a really great experience to begin getting my work seen in the flesh by the general public. They asked me some time back if I wanted to bring in some pieces to liven the place up a bit and I was excited and honored to do so. At the time I didn't have a big selection of smaller paintings, which actually prompted me to spend more time working with a smaller format. Since then I have been working on paintings ranging in size from 40x60 inches to 5x7 inches. It's been a really great bit of education to work with many different sizes because I gets me thinking more about scale and how things impact differently within the different sized picture planes. What I've noticed the most is that I do a lot of very large, assertive, bold visual elements, that take up a large percentage of the plane when I'm working very small (irony), and I would like to incorporate some more of that into the larger works. Okay, I'll stop now, as I'm rambling and have obviously had too much coffee. Time to paint.

Thanks so much Gary & Elke. This is actually my first works to be in a public space, and the feedback has been really positive. A couple of them may be leaving soon, which means I will have to pick some others to re-hang :-)

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
