Other Means for Limiting Photo Storage Space???

Hello, First of all, I would like to thank my friends from the site for keeping in touch with me, and encouraging me to keep posting here... probably because of my absense over the summer. I´ve done a ton of gardenng and such and have been quite busy, but honestly I have been away also because for me the 100 kb per picture limit has been a bit dtoublesome. My habit tends to be to post an entire series and then not post again for awhile until I have something new... so the sizing each picture and five per day thing has made it harder for me to keep up, as I don´t get on very often as it is... and when i do, I am usually in a hurry, just befre work, etc. What I wish to propose, and I´m not sure if here is the place to do it, but I use Flickr quite a bit, and they allow me 200 pictures total, so, as I post new ones, old ones fall off. So, I can post a hundred if I want, or just one. Very rarely do I ever look back at two hundred pictures ago! This also allows me to Repost my favorites, if need be. also, they have a monthly space limit...which I have never reached anyway. Anyway, I would like to know if there are any others here who have had any trouble with our current method, and if there is any possibility of changing to a way that isn´t so... picture by picture and day by day. Again, Gary and other monitors, if a blog isn´t the correct way to ask this, feel free to delete it... it isn´t my intention to cause a debate or anything like that. Thanks so much. Chris

Wow, an awesome thanks to ALL of you, your answeres have helped e tremendously. Yes, I agree with the small number of pictures.... ha ha ha, yea, we don´t want to just dump it all at once. I wasn´t trying to imply that I want to do that. The RSS option sounds awesoe, I will definitely look at it. Gary, i was afraid you would crush me, Lol, not bite. You guys are great.

One of the reasons that I like having a limit on the number of photos loaded everyday is because it prevents the photos section from being taken over by one person's pics. Think about it, what if a person loads one photo and then the person after them loads 200? Nobody is ever going to see that one person's pics unless they spend 30 minutes scrolling through the pics. Small numbers loaded give people a taste or your work and then if they really want to see everything you have done, they can use the link on your page.

Chris I totally understand what you are saying. I have lifted the number of photos you can add per day. It was originally 5 max but due to the fact most people don't upload 5 images a day i have decided to allow people to upload as many as they wish...however if you wish to upload a huge amount then it is best you contact me first so we can discuss the images. I'm very flexible u just got to talk with me Chris, i don't bite!

File size is still 100kb EXCEPT when adding to a blog, forum or challenge discussion. You have to understand i wish everyone could upload any file size they liked but if that was allowed then the site would go over its monthly limit and I would have to pay for extra storage and I can't afford that. We are averaging between 4 to 9 new members daily and if you think about it, that adds up to a lot of images.

One new feature you have on your page is the 'RSS feed' option. You will find it on 'your page' down the bottom of the left hand column (You can move it to wherever you like on your page by using the drag and drop option with your mouse).
Basically that allows you to import photo's, blogs from other 3rd party sites eg.flickr. That way you can display images in your flickr album. Give it a try!

Hi Chris, I think Gary has lifted the restriction on number of pics per day though the 100KB restriction still stands. Of course, Gary or the site Admins are the best persons to provide further details on this.
But, I saw this on the home page left hand side -
"Reminders - I have now removed the limit on the number of photo uploads to the site per day. BUT be aware that each picture must not exceed 100kb/72dpi otherwise it maybe removed.
Also make sure each image is clearly titled, that you have filled out the description box telling us a bit about the work, what are the materials used etc. Finally make sure you add words to the tag line, this makes it is easier to find work of similar nature."

I think that having discussions about things like this is a good thing because we can find out how people think about the subject. As to the subject you raise, I can certainly understand time constraints and being in a hurry. Who of us hasn't experienced that? I have to admit, though, that as someone who loves taking a daily look at the slideshow in the middle of the Home page, I like it when people have to process their photos...me included...because they are more careful about posting pictures that aren't out of focus or multiples of the same thing. If people just download all of their pictures without looking at them, you just never know what's going to show up. I do think, as you pointed out, that if someone already posts their photos to something like Flickr, then posting a link along with a short description...you know, where they were taken, the subject, etc. so we all know and look forward to viewing the pictures...would be a viable solution if you don't have the inclination and especially if you don't have the time to sort and process your photos. Everyone can relate to photos taking a long time to process but the time each of us takes in posting good photos that load quickly, the more time is saved for us all. By the way, you do have some amazing photos that I do remember seeing in the slideshow.

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
