Nelumbo nucifera

Sunlight spreads over a face in the shadows
Like the flower of truth beginning to unfold.
                    ~Rumi

Look within myself, the nature of my being, this life's journey. Seed planted deep upon the bottom, buried in the muck and mire. The asperity of this prodigious struggle to break free from the filth and taint of a wounded soul into the dark waters above. Reaching upward for the air, toiling always towards the light, dwelling deep within the cold blackness, wrapped in solitude. And still the struggle remains. In moments of complacent silence, floating still, moving not. Upon reflection of the path I tread, to see no progress of the quest. Gather in the energy, harmonize the vibrations, propelling upward once again reaching for the light. Discover the allusion of this odyssey; shed the burdens of the past. Stretching, straining, breach the surface, sparkling in the silver moons light. In eloquent lathers rich in silky smooth, the strangling bonds they break, the shell shatters revealing the promise of a hidden treasure. Deeper still the inward watch, focused true, reveals unto me the nature of myself, the brilliance in my being, awakes the potential. As the sun breaks the horizon and washes over all, the blossoming begins, with displays of vivacious color I unfold upon the world enlightened with a sapience to all that is dear.

Nelumbo Nucifera, also known by other names such as Sacred Lotus, Indian Lotus and Water Lily. The legend of the lotus blossom reaches deep in subtle meanings filled with the allegories of struggle, life spirituality, enlightenment and the purity of heart and mind untouched by impurity. Largely a symbol of spiritual awakening and rebirth.

"As a Lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled, So I, born in the world, raised in the world having overcome the world, live unsoiled by the world."

"We were talking - about the space between us all and the people -
Who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion never glimpsing the truth
Then it's far too late when they pass away.
We were talking - about the love we all could share
When we find it - to try our best to hold it there - with our love
With our love we could save the world - if they only knew
Try to realize it's all within yourself - no-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you.
We were talking - about the love that's gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see - are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself
Then you may find peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we are all one
And life flows on within you and without you."

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
