I will be the first to admit I am no Michelangelo as you can see from the image I posted here. But, this image took me less than 5 minutes to create and upload using a new program I had never used prior to this one.

This is just one example of the arts explosion I see happening on a daily basis. Another trend is using the iPhone for creativity on the go.
I discovered a site dedicated to iPhone art and I must admit for a moment I had to tamp down the urge to join the masses and run out and get one just looking at these very creative works. See the art of the iPhone here: http://pixelsatanexhibition.com/

Science and technology is affecting every facet of our lives in amazing and wonderful ways. For those who love to create and share experiences this is the best of times. My only caution is this, don't get so involved with the one eyed monster that you forget to get out and live. "Life is short, have fun along the way!" PushingPixels

I agree Grant! There is so much to be thankful for for all those masters who have gone before us. I still want to cry when I look at Michelangelo's David because it is so beautiful.

Let's hope this is a new renaissance... i love to see all the new forms of art but at the same time, hope that we can retain traditional skills and build upon them - as happened in the old Renaissance. People like Gary contribute to that enormously by encouraging us to build superlative technical skills with new materials and techniques. I still think the well-crafted works of art will always be on the top of the heap and all the new less-difficult art will create new practictioners and new connoisseurs to appreciate the best of art.

Thanks ever so much for the comments! Yes my intent was to show how technology has opened doors for us. This wonderful site is just one of the advantages. Flooded with lesser art? Well maybe, but I feel the cream always rises to the top. (sorry Gary, had to say it)

I wonder if the cave men who drew on rocks considered anyone lesser because of what and how he drew it. LOL

Some future time we will look as primitive I am sure. Thanks again for posting your comments!

I have to say I love computer Art...I also enjoy using my digital photos and changing them in an artistic way..and printing them onto canvas cloth..sewing them onto canvas...or using them for a new painting that I've all ready worked out the design, colors, and composition in PS..I know others think nothing of using others photos making a digital collage-however- I think half the fun is using my own original photos... or scanning my art into PS and making a whole new piece of art then printing that out..I also never worry about copyright issues then...It seems that any new art that comes into the "Art" world is debated over as to the validity of it being "Authentic Art" or not...such as Watercolor and Photography...then after a time it is accepted into the "CLICK" of the accepted Art mediums...Often the art I make is personal for myself-family-or friends..here is an example that I created the other day for my Son - of his Son and me...The first photo is the real photo that he took of us..which I blurred out the surrounding area and added a darker framing...the second photo is the same photo that I manipulated in PS and is how I see my little Grandson..

Now everyone has a chance at creating and enjoy making art and having fun...which I think is the best part of Art...how wonderful if everyone starts the creative life...I know it sounds very naive but I'm a dreamer...

i agree with jay im not saying that people shouldnt use technology in their art i use images i find off google and print them off all the time but i always bend it shape it and make it my own i use my hands and my feelings all my senses to tell me when a work is done i use so many odd things to do what few decent pieces i have done anyone can sit at a computer and take an image and play with it on a program that other people have made but they can never create someting tangible something that can be touched and felt and experienced i understand that some can example gary and his self portrait but he is an artist using a tool to help him create a work unlike how some people so yes i agree with jay the art world is being flooded with photoshop and other prpgram work and blocking out or hiding true art

I have loved using my iphone to create art and in fact i use a 'lego' program to create portrait pictures. Here is an example of a self portrait i created using my iphone and then translated that into a real artwork using oil crayons.

Art is art, doesn't matter what medium you use.  Many beautiful things can be created with many different things.  Some are easier than others but I think we need to take them and use them as a diving board to propel us into exciting new ideas.  Barbara was the first to admit that this didn't take long but I think her point is to think what one could do taking this medium and putting time and practice into it.  Thanks for the great tip Barbara.

noooo lol. I know how easy it is to use ps or any other digital medium, there is a reason why so many people pick that as there medium, because it is easy. We are getting flooded with lesser art because of it.

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
