finally, we have lift off! yes, we've woken up to all our dreaming, scheming, reviewing, cajoling, begging and more ings i could think of in my vocabulary.
'awakening: journey to abstraction' went up at the spacious the art loft@volvo showroom of singapore. we will be their swan song/show before they tear down to rebuilt the car showroom. you can say that we will bring the house down - literally!
the crazy part was deciding (another 'ing') how to portion of the space. in the end i choose to be at the end, far end of an elongated room. thought it might be a good way to be the exclamation point (maybe a question mark or horrors, the ... ). The deed is done, no turning back. I do have managed to squeezed in three pieces right smack in the middle of the path.
here is what I mean...
i think you might have seen the three rolls side by side together. in the end, with the guidance of our mentor to unroll this 2 m long work a bit to showcase the art work. i hope it makes sense and get's the notice. it was an interesting process to move from an A4 size work to this daunting size!
some 'close up' shots for you. :) * you were warned , look away now.
the full list of materials on show are in my site. you can check it out here. will broadcast this more post opening night. zero-nil -null-nada sale yet for me...
it's still a good 4 more days to the official opening night and then many days to close this show. there is really not much foot traffic to the space so we're really reliant on friends and their friends talking about it. i just hope to sell enough to cover the $$$ i spent.
big thanks to the LMM family for being part of my (continuing) artistic journey! *waving, clutching his oscar statute*... oops sorry, wrong dream sequence. you guys rock...! will report back in the next few weeks... follow me in fb/ twitter/ pinterest/ linkedin... in the meantime, this blog is just for lmm and will self destruct in.....
n.b. btw, a very crude walk thru in my area via youtube. http://youtu.be/oP-Tr91H9wk

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
