when you look at a painting/artwork, how many colors do you see?

when i look at a painting, i look for composition, techniques applied, texture, subject if any, etc. 

however, i have been guilty of not noticing all the color/s in an artwork.  i've decided i want to start paying more attention to color/s.  at first viewing of the piece, of course, i do see color in it. but, i've not really taken the time/thought to really 'see' all the colors.

in the current issue of CLOTH, PAPER, SCISSORS magazine there is an interesting article about making art bundles.

get together some items you would like to use in a mixed media artwork. bundle them and then put them outside for all the elements/weather to affect over a few months. in about 3 or 4 months,…
