Introduction

I am an acrylic creationist from Canada. I paint on canvas and wood boards. My art is modern, mathematical, universal and poetic, like music and invokes energy projected from the brush.

Abstract Challenge...Finally!

OK, I know I'm way behind  on the Abstract Challenge, but I wanted to write a bit about this piece.

I have literally had this piece in my head for 20 years.  I knew I wanted to do a formal grid and I knew each square would be different but I didn't know what it would look like.

Every time I started working with the grid idea, it just felt wrong!  Nothing gelled, everything I tried was completely unsatifying.

Then I found Art from the Heart / LMM!  So much inspiration and…

Donating Art for a good cause

I donated this painting for a gala last night held to honor a friend who died at an all too early age of 36 years old from brain cancer. It benefits brain tumor research for princess margaret hospital in toronto. My painting sold and went to a good home. My question is how do you feel about donating art? I had an instructor who said it devalues your work because you never get much money at these events and other people that have paid full price at your gallery or website feel, well, a bit…

A dagger to my heart.

I have been reading some blog discussions here about what is art. The consensus being that the general public do not understand or appreciate abstract art.

I can relate to this so well and it brings a dagger to my heart (drama queen me).

I have been painting 'realistic' for so many years, but last year I "discovered" a liking for abstract art, and have been trying to loosen up in my art work ever since.

This year (lucky for me) I found Art from the Heart, and… Continue

The Flux Museum Exhibition

For several years I have belonged to a collage group on Yahoo called the International Museum of Collage started by Cecil Touchon. This Spring, although abstract art, Dada, non-art as art was really not my forte, I decided to enter an exhibition of Fluxus Art. I have been working in new directions for a couple of years now, in between my large paper collage work. Since I was creating boxes with assemblaged tops, I thought I'd give the "Thinking Inside of the Box' exhibit a try.

The… Continue

Am I going in the right direction?

Yesterday I started working on paper with dry pastels that were left from Street paint and first drawing are in color

But, for days now, I am occupied with shapes more then colors, so this morning I switched to black and white (dry charcoal&pastel with white acrylic)

Then I couldn't stop :)…

Round And Round We Go

I am sooo behind getting these posted. Shame on me. This one was last thursdays "painting of the day" Again I did it while at work. I didn't have some of my supplies that I wanted to use for this one with me so I just "winged" it.

"Watched", Do You Ever Get That Feeling?

This one was actually my painting of the day for last Wednesday. I seem to get behind photographing my work.

This one is 8X8 on archival paper. It didn't start out wanting to be a nude but that is what emerged. I texturized it using spackle and then adhered crumpled up paper. The box with the image is raised and 3d. So I am still behind showing thursday and fridays paintings. I will try to get them up as soon as I can! I just need a few more… Continue

Tuesday's Painting Of The Day..........Continuum

This is the painting I painted for Tuesday. I am calling this one "Continuum" 8X8 acrylic mixed media collage on archival paper. This is a kinda "take-off", or smaller version, of a 16X20 canvas that I have been working on in my studio. It's much easier for me to work on these smaller paintings while at work.

I am really enjoying making these little daily… Continue

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
