First Time Blog post ...
Well... for someone who makes a living out of writing, I have taken my time in making my first ever blog post. Anywhere.
Thanks Gary for drawing me out of my mainly silent shell and into a public blogspace. Gary's easy way of communicating, his sense of humour and resolute refusal to take himself too seriously have inspired me to start reaching out to my fellow artists...There is something about how Gary invites us all so openly into his world that sneaks past the fear of my…

Closing Out 2010
Crazy year. Quiet. Officially unemployed. Ah, but the spiritual growth has been record breaking for me. This puts to rest the idea that we become something and that's who we are. So far, I haven't had a quiet life, just a quiet year, which beats last year; an epic of car crashes, physical therapy, and letters from the IRS was non-stop and embarrassingly public. Or rather, it could have been embarrassing but I no longer care what things appear to be, only what they really are and then I like…

2009 was a terrible one both personally and professionally for me. So when I stepped into 2010, I resolved to leave the painful stuff from the previous year behind and take with me whatever good stuff I could salvage. Obviously, it was easier said than done and to be honest it's not that easy to forget. But when I look back on what a mess I was this time last year, I realise I have come a long way indeed!
So this year, I sternly set…

My 2010 Reflections
Well it has been one hell of a year. There have been so many challenges placed in our lives and i have tried to face them with some sense of grace and lots of understanding. The biggest of which was that we had to place my big sister in a full care facility due to early onset of alzheimers. So sad, she is only 55 years old. She had a pretty heavy drug problem for years and it finally caught up to her in such a cruel way. i am so grateful that she is now at least safe and well cared for in a…

It's quite unique conceptually but would you have such an implant for art's sake? I dont think I'd be able to relax if I could see behind me all the time! :)
what do you think?

Reflections of 2010
Well for me it has been a year of transitions and new beginnings. The addition of a grandson and brother to the three beautiful granddaughters in June. My only child (a son) changing jobs as a computer teacher at a business college to a computer company who installs systems around North America and the stress that puts on a family who are struggling but the joy of seeing my son so happy with the change. My second granddaughter starting school for the first time and exceling just like her big…

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
