Bonnie Rose Bryan is Offering a Class!!! Support her if you can...

I thought I would give a little plug to Bonnie Rose Bryan. She is offering a class on Water Colours over at www.willowing.ning.com Bonnie has done a lot over the years for LMM - from tons of work on our various projects, to running classes, etc. This class is inexpensive, and is water colour basics, techniques, projects, etc. The videos are high quality and professionally presented. Bonnies art is amazing and she really deserves some support on her… Continue

Intro

I came across this site from CA77 youtube channel. It takes me a while to get the hang of a new place and I consider myself on trainer wheels to begin with.

I make art for my own interest and therapy. I use acrylic paint, pencils, markers and collage elements. Usually I scan the finished picture and 'improve' it with photoshop.

A lot of my work is done on recycled office paper A5, A4 and A3 sizes. Occasionally I attempt a paining on wood or canvas but I have trouble translating… Continue

First Time Blog post ...

Well... for someone who makes a living out of writing, I have taken my time in making my first ever blog post. Anywhere.

Thanks Gary for drawing me out of my mainly silent shell and into a public blogspace. Gary's easy way of communicating, his sense of humour and resolute refusal to take himself too seriously have inspired me to start reaching out to my fellow artists...There is something about how Gary invites us all so openly into his world that sneaks past the fear of my…

Looking Up...Looking Forward

After a pretty tough 2009..caring for a dying father, packing up his life, emotional bagage, kid's sporting injuries, operations & recuperations... I started 2010 with a great win in an art competition with a mixed media piece. YAY! I thought, about time the gods smile! But somewhere I seemed to have run aground. A husband who left to go have fun & leaving debt, moving into a house needing far too much work, kid's exams & building my business to pay the bills.....sadly, not much… Continue

2010..What you miss out on the roundabout..you pick up on the hurdy gurdy......

Hullo to all...and can i take this opportunity to say "warm wishes of the season" to you all. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not..this time of year is always a great time to focus on the people we love...and reflect on the year gone by.

This place means the world to me..and though i really have been quite absent this year....its not for any other reason than that simple thing.."life" ..it sooooooo gets in the way.

But not anymore.

Reflecting on 2010...it astounds me as to how… Continue

Closing Out 2010

Crazy year. Quiet. Officially unemployed. Ah, but the spiritual growth has been record breaking for me. This puts to rest the idea that we become something and that's who we are. So far, I haven't had a quiet life, just a quiet year, which beats last year; an epic of car crashes, physical therapy, and letters from the IRS was non-stop and embarrassingly public. Or rather, it could have been embarrassing but I no longer care what things appear to be, only what they really are and then I like…

Reflections 2010

Of course, something completely exciting and earth shatteringly wonderful could happen in the remaining five weeks of the year, but, failing that, 2010 has been a pretty ordinary year. Being a part of LMM was important because it inspired me to get my butt in gear and I’ve done a lot of painting. I have also met some good friends here, and that’s no small potatoes when you look at the big picture. So, thanks LMM for that!

There were no real highs and no real lows in 2010 except for… Continue

Reflecting back on this year - 2010

2009 was a terrible one both personally and professionally for me. So when I stepped into 2010, I resolved to leave the painful stuff from the previous year behind and take with me whatever good stuff I could salvage. Obviously, it was easier said than done and to be honest it's not that easy to forget. But when I look back on what a mess I was this time last year, I realise I have come a long way indeed!

So this year, I sternly set…

It seems my taste in music changes with my weight

So I've decided to finally shed the extra poundage with a goal to lose loads by April just in time to star in a video by my favorite film maker, hehe. Normally, I listen to nice, soft, romatic classical music while doing stuff around the house. Well, I've lost about 13 pounds and that music just doesn't appeal to me at all. This morning I'm blasting Lady Gaga and dancing EVERYWHERE. I'm concerned about what will happen after the next 13 pounds. Will I be dancing ON the furniture and building a… Continue

Renewing My Art Enthusiasm

Recently started life drawing classes which has given me a renewed enthusiasm for art. We meet in the gallery every Monday and have a model who is very good at the poses and keeping still. We have nine participants and are really enjoying the chance to use a live model. It is so different drawing from life and the nude is so much more fun than still life objects!

Also this week-end I did an Acrylic Art Workshop here in Cooktown titled 'Values in Pencil and Paint' by local Artist Ross… Continue

My 2010 Reflections

Well it has been one hell of a year. There have been so many challenges placed in our lives and i have tried to face them with some sense of grace and lots of understanding. The biggest of which was that we had to place my big sister in a full care facility due to early onset of alzheimers. So sad, she is only 55 years old. She had a pretty heavy drug problem for years and it finally caught up to her in such a cruel way. i am so grateful that she is now at least safe and well cared for in a…

Artist with a camera implant!

I read this today and was quite amazed at how artists think and work.. check this article out of an NYU prof

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101123/ap_on_en_ot/us_the3rd_eye

It's quite unique conceptually but would you have such an implant for art's sake? I dont think I'd be able to relax if I could see behind me all the time! :)

what do you think?

2010 reflections

2010 finds me and my 18 year old sun(fresh bile operated) celebrating new year with diet food(for him). Then everything went OK about health matters and,one of the best things in 2010,in February,I started, accidentaly,to play with putty and colours.Searching You Tube for something similar to what I did,I discovered Capricornartist 73 and that was the second best thing in 2010.Finding Gary I became more self confident and enjoyed every single day… Continue

Reflections of 2010

Well for me it has been a year of transitions and new beginnings. The addition of a grandson and brother to the three beautiful granddaughters in June. My only child (a son) changing jobs as a computer teacher at a business college to a computer company who installs systems around North America and the stress that puts on a family who are struggling but the joy of seeing my son so happy with the change. My second granddaughter starting school for the first time and exceling just like her big…

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
