Well it is almost that time, can you believe I am leaving in 7 days time.
This last week i have been pretty flat out in the studio getting some new works finished for an upcoming art fair this Saturday and Sunday. I don't know why i am pushing myself so hard to make more art because i have so much now but at least i have work there if i feel like being a 'slack ass' next year he he so might as well strike while the iron is hot...NOT
My apologies to everyone for bringing Christmas forward a bit ;)
I know I'm a bit early decorating 'My Page' here but I have to get organized now as I only have today and tomorrow to get my Christmas sorted. From this Wednesday (2nd Dec) I shall be totally incapable of doing anything. I shall be having my shoulder surgery which will put me out of action for about 6-8 weeks.
So that is my Christmas over with. I've never had… Continue

I have so much to be thankful for. Even in my bouts of moodiness I do realize I am so blessed. I love my family and am so happy to have them all still with me. I am relatively healthy and most of the stuff I don't like I do possess the power somewhere to change them. lol
So with that being said I thought I do my quirky little what I'm thankful for spill.…
i would like to thank every one who has been so supportive of me, i would like to thank every one for being who they are and following there heart throught life, I would like to thank my friends for being my family, and my family for being my friends, i would like to thank the little piggy the corn the bread the pecan pie that I am going to be eating tonight, thank you
Its been ages. The loft took two weeks to clear! So many books have gone to Oxfam. We have cleared a lovely space to put finished pieces of art, where I can easily access them.
We are decorating the dining room...its non stop. Its tiring but, as it is winter I find it one of the best times to do this task. But my heart is longing to get back to the peace of my art! Sometimes I wonder why I started all this but I know I will feel better once it is done, and it needed… Continue
Hi all. Wow, it has been an extremely busy couple of months. Gallery show is going well. I had my mind solidly wrapped around the economy being so bad that I wouldn't sell anything, just profit from the experience. I installed my artwork October 21st and by that weekend I sold two pieces!!!! BONUS!!!! I worked really hard on a press release that I sent out to every local paper and magazine around. Made it on the front page of one,Mississippi's Rankin Ledger. I've been asked to write an article… Continue

Education to me is as important as breathing. I have put off getting an education for fourteen years, and it was a suffocating fourteen years to say the least. My educational plan is to study at Valencia to get my AA in fine art. Then transfer to UCF and work on a double major in fine art, and art education.
The four year university I want to attend is UCF. UCF stands for the University of Central… Continue
Extra! Extra! Exciting news here!! My online art gallery is up and running. Take a peek at http://www.artfire.com/users/artwriter . Can you tell me what you think?? I'm a first-timer so I am grateful for any suggestions/comments!!
I've been having loads of fun this past week playing with some new stencils and some old artworks. I've got 15 days left to play around before i leave for Australia!
I'm really excited about sharing these. They are so fun because their wings move up and down so they look like they are flying!!!
When they aren't flying around the room they will occasionally land on the tree as you can see below. Check out my new tutorial on how to make these http://wp.me/piYcm-IU…
Just a post to say congratulations to Gary on the first year with the Ning site. I really have been here since the beginning and must send a big thanks for all the free sharing of information by members and to say my own art has taken great strides in this past year largely to the wonderful teaching videos by Gary.
Great Vibes to All for the next 12 months.
I painted this portrait of my daughter and it looks Ok to me but I wanted to know what you thought. If you see anything that needs correcting please let me know. Your constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

A short, yet fascinating documentary about Zummo, an Italian wax sculpter, who is credited with creating the first 3D anatomical model of the human body.
(A bit of warning: Contains extraordinarily realistic wax models of corpses, and in part 2, some stock footage of maggots in the dirt. If you are sensitive to such things, you won't want to watch this documentary.)
I'm Marla, and I am looking forward to getting to see some new and inspiring art from everybody here. I'm from Indiana, just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Ky. I have 2 boys that are grown and will become a grandma in Feb.
My husband and I love antiques and do a lot of shopping in Peddler's Malls and antique shops and I pick up lots of ephemera from here to add to my artwork. I love the hunt!
I do journaling and mixed media collages, mixed… Continue

Not being a painter of multi-media artist and not familiar with art speak and so much more the question came up in our Art Guild recently. For instance my clay torso which I played around with collage, is that considered "mixed media"? Answers.com gave the following definition, anyone else have any input, any enlightenment, need to be able to explain that at our next board meeting. Crazy, it's come up every few years for years and I thought we had it settled. Thanks in advance for your… Continue
So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).
I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
