3 Dictionary Collages

Recently, I did three mixed media collages, using pages from an old English dictionary.

This is the first time I've used dictionary pages in artworks, and I must say, I love it! In the past, I have hand-written word deffinitions into collages, but being able to rip-and-snip right from the book was a fun and fascinating process.

I chose some… Continue

HELLO WORLD! I'M BACK!

Well people, I finally finished my "Do It Yourself With Dali" crafting DVD! OMG! Where do I start? It was a long, difficult road with lots of obstacles, but I finally made it. At one point, I thought, "the universe just doesn't want me to make this thing!" I was ready to trash it, delete all files and throw my computer out the window. (Thank goodness I didn't--LOL!) So many little obstacles, like work men on the road in front of my house, making far too much commotion for filming, barking dogs… Continue

Metal Clay Rocks!

My first attempt with Precious Clay – I wanted something feminine and organic. In time I will make my own pearl and pin chain to go with this I think. A nice long length to hang between the breast.

Last Sunday I participated in my first metal clay… Continue

mary had a little lamb

Mary had a little lamb,

little lamb, little lamb,

Mary had a little lamb,

whose fleece was white as snow.

And everywhere that Mary went,

Mary went, Mary went,

and everywhere that Mary went,

the lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school one day

school one day, school one day,

It followed her to school one day,

which was against the…

art is.............what exactly???

my latest motto......

"art is allowing my Self the Freedom to Create what i Feel, the good, the bad the ugly and the Beautiful....."

and right now it seems as though i have definitely gotten the "ugly" and

"bad" portions perfected. so why can't i move onto the "good" and the

Beautiful?"

ahhhhh... the million dollar question, my friends!

as i look back on this past week i could go on and on about puking kids, PMS

(as previously posted), wasted art supplies (as my… Continue

Progress!

The crew is painting all of my walls today! When I say all of my walls, I really mean it! There are only two rooms in the house which are not being mudded, sanded, and painted (one of which is the laundry room). The artist in me has been struggling with communication. I have spent a great deal of time (not much else to do while cooped up in a hotel room with very poor internet connections) choosing colors and making design decisions on a budget. My… Continue

Pre Menstrul Syndrome

it starts with a cup of coffee that you have to heat up at least three

separate times because God forbid you are able to actually drink it one

sitting.... uninterrupted.... even if it is a day old!

looking around the house and contemplating calling the Department of Health

because wouldn't it just be easier to have them condemn the dump then

clean it.

i mean who the hell knows the last time you bothered to clean the kitchen floor.....in fact i think the vacuum is… Continue

ode to Ani

"i am not a pretty girl, that's not what i DO! so, put me down PUNK!"

so i told my husband last night if given the oppertunity i would most definitely have an affair with Ani Difranco.

every time i hear, watch or read her i am blown away by her risk taking Creativity. (plus let's face it, she's HOT)!

with the release of well over 19 albums' she has managed to remain an independant Artist with her own record label, "Rightous…

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
