Paint smells and trusting ones own judgment....

I'm in day two of inhaling paint and by afternoon I have had it. Since I didn't trust my own judgment I listened to my daughter and changed it to a lighter version of what I had, totally ignoring what me husband has said for more than 29 years “trust your own instinct”…the cost to change…nothing. The painter applied it this morning and when I came home I didn’t like what I saw. The painter had already painted quite a bit but hated it too so we decided to start from scratch and go back to what I… Continue

Bad Timing.

Bad Timing.

I suppose that that is what I have to blame it on. It just can’t work right now for me or for her. I met someone recently and we seemed to hit it off well enough. After a few months of friendly camaraderie and general palling around, revelations were made. You see, we had each taken quite a shine one to the other. This, though, just as she has had to leave to tend to some family matters far, far away.

We said our goodbyes a few days ago. I miss… Continue

My new favorite and other stuff

Hi all,

I finally got my favorite new piece of art today in the "snail mail" I received one of Gary's halloween treats. And it is fantastic. Thank you so much Gary! I was showing my nephew and he was saying its cool too, I told him he had to touch it and feel the textures because that is what I have been learning about with my art work, he still thought it was cool....he has my taste! I will post a picture so I can share it with all.

Also had my first art show! Sold one item,… Continue

HALLOWEENING MY PAGE

Well, I spent quite some time today trying to vamp my page for Halloween. I just recently learned how to do this because Mary Helena explained it to me one day on Skype.

I finally got my page halfway decent looking through trial and error of picture sizes, that's what took me so long. I wish the site was a bit more user friendly in this aspect. I suppose that has always been my complaint about ning from the start. It wasn't as easy to navigate as most other sites on the net and it… Continue

Mona Halloweesa or Le Bona Lisa

As a fan of hoopdancing I was checking out some hooping websites, when I came across a hooper who is also an artist, Brecken Rivara. On her MySpace site I found this amazing portrait of Mona Lisa, and because of her appearance in Gary's work and the Halloween theme, I thought i'd post it for all to enjoy.…

How Much is Too Much?

(The following was inspired by a conversation with Eva Macie. Thanks, Eva.)

When blogging, or in correspondence between friends or even commentary on another’s art, deciding how much to reveal can be a tricky matter. Sometimes we broadcast more about ourselves than we intend. Perhaps we unconsciously wish to uncloak as much at the time only to come later to self-reproach. Hit “DELETE.” Do you?

Posting our art, here or elsewhere, is one thing; people generally… Continue

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
