On Tuesday I finally could pick up my puppy.(see pic) Bought all kinds of toys,a nice pillow to sleep for her,the best dogfood, and so on,I was ready like a real mother that gave birth.

On Friday I had to bring Tib back to the petshop, she was diagnosed with an incurable scab(a microbe)She scratched herself to dead and the vet told me that a dog with this microbe would eventualy lose all his hair en die...Her brother and sisters had it too(contagious)

It was the first dog I ever…

First Exhibition

I feel so excited and so lucky to have been selected at a new market to display my work. Although they wanted more ( I know...weird, considering my skill level); I selected about 18 pieces (paintings and photographs) to hang. I framed everything. The work is hung and am so excited. The market is set to open next week, but I don't expect it to really get rolling for another week or two afterwards. The market is about two block from the famous Sun Studios in Memphis and is…

I'm Baaaaaccckkkk!

I can work within the site again! Yahoo! Through the hard work of the site team and my stumbling on some settings on my security protocol - I now have access to mail, photos, blog, etc. I haven't tested the chat yet - it looks like it's a new type.

I'd also want to say that I enjoy the weekly update message I receive from Gary and the site team. It really makes me feel included in the community AND it's great to see that artists combine their art with their daily lives (love the cow… Continue

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your heartfelt comments and nice compliments on my pelican photo! I am so worried about them, and everything that's being effected by what's happening in the Gulf. I just love taking pelican photos and thought I'd post one of a cute young pelican that looks happy. I hope to take photos of them for years and years to come...

Ideas please.

I think I got the idea going over Gary's past challenges "self portrait"? Anyway this is what I am going for.. I would like to leave the texture of puzzle pieces on canvas. I have tried spackling, molding paste, and wood putty, but they all leave a suction imprint where the piece was (like if you stick paper on wet paint). I watched a video of a mans technique were uses stamps, dollies, and many other items. He said he uses spackling I thought. Has anyone had any success, do you know what I…

Feeling dreary....

I have not had any enthusiasm of late to be creative. I am so busy at work that at the end of my day I have nothing left to think with and that means the weekend is overwhelmed with chores that must get done or my body needs to re-coup! I hope to get my energy back for creating something other than my crocheting and knitting which has occupied most of my time. Perhaps the summer sun and longer day light hours will encourage me to perk up a bit.

Does anyone else have this type of… Continue

Stream of Infinite Possibilities

You know how it is when you become interested in something or you are going through something, suddenly it seems to be everywhere in your life? Like you think about having a baby and all of a sudden, everywhere you look preggo women are walking down the street!

Well, art is that way for me. When I was doing hand sculpted art dolls I was into the PreRaphaelites and Realistic art depicting human forms, fine illustrations and the like. I barely gave abstract art a…

Artistic Respect

I was thinking about art and respect today: As Artists we seem to rememebr the non-positive comments people make on our art, yet we never remember the positive ones. Why is that?

I think maybe it is because the non-positive remarks are so specific, and the positive ones are NOT. If someone doesn't like something they usually say why "Oh, I don't like bright color" "The work feels cartoonish." But the positive remarks are non-specific. "Hey that's awesome!" or "I really like that" I am… Continue

I will update you all soon on what has been happening here in my New Zealand arty life because things have not been so quiet in that department.

Are you interested in mixed media that involves bead, stitch & painting?

Come on over and see what I've been up to. It's a mix of photography, mixed media, beading, fibre art and recycling. Please make sure you check back to the beginning of April to see the start of my beaded, mixed media journal pieces. http://artfuldreamer.blogspot.com/

Saturday !

I sat in the garden today and watched the sunlight playing on the leaves. The young leaves growing on the fig tree, which will soon be much bigger than my hand. There are so many figs on the tree too!

It was so warm this afternoon that I gave up doing some painting (paint was drying too fast) and listened to the wood pidgeons cooing from the roof of the house and in the surounding trees. The frogs were busy croaking.

I so lucky just to sit and take it all in, life buzzing all… Continue

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
