Hi everybody :)
Im writting this post with a bit delay but I couldn't do it earlier. But better later than never :) Just want to say that on the 21 Februrary one of the most known Poish painters Jerzy Nowosielski died in the age of 88. He was one of the best Polish painters, graphic and stage designer. The most stupid thing is that after his death on the 24 February somebody broke into his home and stole some of his icons :(
I won't be writting here about his life…

While traveling in Ireland in June of 2010, we came upon this monument to The Unknown Woman Worker. It was at an entrance to Europa Buscentre in Belfast and I found myself very fascinated with it. It was created by Lois Walsh and is a tribute to all the women, paid and unpaid who contribute to the…

A Day Spent with Mo Godbeer
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting Mo Godbeer and she is an absolute delight. I flew from Melbourne to Sydney to attend an Encaustic Workshop Mo was running at the North Sydney Community Centre. I was a little hesitant at first about attending. The thought of leaving the kids and flying interstate for the day made me a little nervous. I guess I was more worried about my kids killing each other while I was away, but in the end they talked me into it and practically pushed me out…

Screaming go on I dare you
Strike at me...
It’s been too long since you passed my way ..
Stick that brush
In a pot of sunshine and make a start
Go on I dare You ....."…

My friends, who have several rescued horses, asked me to paint something to complement their ranch style decor . I found this image by an American artist and, right away, it took my breath away. This is my first serious effort. Although it is not my own original idea, I enjoyed the liberties this textured…

Recently i found in the school's trash an old book with these great yellow-sepia pages and i thought i could use it for collage pieces or as a background for paintings.
Two of the book's pages had some portraits of the writers -printed old fashion photos or a simple drawing of someone. Too bad i didnt take a photo of them before i paint them over…

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
