Been making a go-cart at workout out of a wheelie bin thats gonna take part in a race in july. I got to paint it but also got to build a lot of it even though it wasn't my project :-)

It's been quite a while.
Hi everyone,
I haven't been around for quite a while. It's been a busy year and I didn't have much time for my online art communities. But I have been investing time in my art practice. I joined an artist run centre as a resident artist. I have my own little studio space with bright natural…

Just back
Just back from a few days in amsterdam and although it wasn't my first time there, it was my first time there where I had some interest in looking at galleries and some street art. I got into see Vincent Van Gogh gallery and was quite surprised as I though his stuff would of blown me away much more than it did.
I have been working away on a few bits and pieces prior to my trip and I'll post up a few images of them now so please people let me know what ye think.

Low Fire Engobe Tests
Going to be doing a Saturday morning kids ceramics class pretty soon ... so I'm designing / testing engobes to go on greenware without shrinkage issues. it's 04 vitreous engobies to go on red clay. Firing is done, waiting on kiln to cool. Will post recipes with finished shots this weekend.
Being as this is going to be kids, this needs to be a slip/glaze that glosses over and can go on wet clay for a once firing (wether that is raku or kiln fired). colored engobes and glazes can…

Wanna play a game??
Here's a bit of fun for us to do.
I've started this little 4X6" painting and the object of the game is for you to finish the painting creating your own weird animals or monsters
I started out by masking off some areas with masking fluid (using my thumb and a stick) and added watercolour and salt.
Now it's over to you!!
Print this image onto, preferably hot press watercolour paper and see…

It happened AGAIN!
I have once again been deleted from this site after 4 years and LOTS of content that went away with it besides being part of the admin. I will not be adding much content, art, videos, etc- I guess the universe is trying to tell me something. Unless there is a way to back up my content here (let me know if you know) there is no reason to start up yet again. I will be here because I love this site but I won't work at adding much- it takes too much time and to lose it all a 3rd time would make…

Possible collaborative video
hi,
i'm a newbie and I already have a request. Sorry, I hope you will still help me.
One day I was wondering how a film look like, if it was shot by different people who don't know each other? Now I'm searching for artists who would like to participate in this experimental video art project by contributing a short video.
Think about whether there is a place that may seem…

Building a Wood Kiln
So, just a fore warning ... this might not come to fruition. BUT ... I am aiming at building a high fire ceramics wood kiln for my local art hub. We have the brick, and at the moment it's all about zoning requirements and additional materials ... and man power ... but it's a possibility.
Nothing too fancy, Caternary kiln, small enough (2 kiln shelves deep) to not take days to fire ... easy to load, easy to maintain ... Should have some fun with this
Anywho ... my…

Hey, guys...
I'm in the process of creating an assemblage, and I want to experiment with some kind of interior lighting.
I'm not too familiar with this sort of thing. I'm assuming that LED lighting, because it doesn't emit a lot of heat, is the way to go. Or is this wrongheaded?
It would also make sense that the light be battery-powered.
Have any of you used small, battery-powered LEDs in your art? If so, are there any negatives to using them? And what's a good…

Cathedral of Light
This week I popped over to France for a couple of days. I stayed in Bourbourg, not far from Dunkirk.
Everyone was talking about the new sculpture in the church Saint-Jean-Baptiste by the English artist Sir Anthony Caro. I saw the sculpture outside and though ya it's ok. What I didn't realise was that there was soooo much more inside!!
The real mind blowing thing was the group of scuptures in the chancel. Sir Anthony Caro who studied at the Royal Academy and was…

Of late...
Hey dear colleagues. I haven't been on here much for the past month. I'm not asking for sympathy, believe me. I've been in intensive care in the hospital for awhile. Blood clots in my my leg moved to my lungs, and I literally wasn't allowed to move for a few weeks. BUT, I'm back with a vengeance. I've finished several pieces, due to an increased amount of creative energy. I will post them as soon as I can take some pics of them!!

Does this ever happen to you?
So, we went to Walmart looking for some paint. As we came out of the store, I noticed what I thought was a glass lens on the ground - all scratched up - I said, HMMMMMMM, I could maybe use that for a collage.
But I past it by, then a few steps later, there were the lensless glass frames all pink and sparkly with only one ear piece smashed to a flatness that was perfect for mounting on a canvas.
So I picked up the wonky frames and went back and picked up the lens. A few more…

White spirits
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of white spirit Gary uses, the kind I tried does not do any thing. It would be a great help if someone could help me out. Thank you.

Art to make your heart race.
I went to see the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition at the Tate Britain last night.
A late night opening at the Tate makes for a great Friday night out. I don't know what I must have looked like wandering around with my mouth gaping or perpetually smiling... This was the…

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
