Hi everyone,
I haven't been around for quite a while. It's been a busy year and I didn't have much time for my online art communities. But I have been investing time in my art practice. I joined an artist run centre as a resident artist. I have my own little studio space with bright natural…

Rick Rogers said… Thanks Danielle. I'm going to have to get back to using those shells soon. A client has asked for a larger composition to be created in that series. One of those was a difficult composition to resolve and didn't completely get resolved. So that took the wind out of my sails on that particular series for a while. Cheers.

I've been checking out the rest of your work. Great stuff! Love it lots. I went to your website. I adore what you've done with the shells.

I can't answer your private message right now- Ning is all F***ed up right now! Give it a few hours then restart your computer and see what happens. If you still can't find your work let me know and I can get a hold of Gary and see what is going on. I'm heading for bed right now- it's almost 1am- so I will look again in the morning to see if I can get to your message. If it isn't there try uploading again- I know it wasn't Gary that got rid of it or any of the other admins here. Talk to you tomorrow, Mo
Mo Mapes said… Thanks for the friend request Rick. I used to have over 500 until Ning deleted me. And I had my art here too but they deleted me twice after I was here 4 years so I'm not even going to add my art- takes to much time to put it back up. I love looking at your art- keep it up!

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
