How did you hear about Loving Mixed Media?
I have been watching, listening and following our beloved Gary since I discovered him on YouTube with his amazing How To Videos. It was love at first sight! Both him and his artworks and techniques... very inspiring! And so friendly and helpful and down to earth! Been hooked since then and am blown away at what he's created here at NING. GO GAZZA you are SUCH an INSPIRATIONAL LEGEND!
Describe your style of art and materials you like to use?
I am a Visual Storyteller, collage and mixed media artist who enjoys working with words and pictures to create new stories with these combinations. I enjoy the traditional cut and paste collage method but am also exploring and enjoying the digital art world now too...
Being a Bower Bird from way back, I have collected many curious and ancient artifacts and images which await transformation in some way through my art.
I also love making shrines, shadow boxes, adorning gourds and basically anything else which stands still long enough! LOL
Every single day I am inspired by someone or something...
Life is full of wonders and IS an amaaaazing place! In all its light and shadow and everything in between...
Hey there,
First up... These are some of my recent experiments in the wonderful world of Digital Collage...

The second slideshow displays some of my SoulCollage cards which have been made in the traditional cut and paste method onto mat board. I just love making these and the process which accompanies them.

Some favourite words...

"I was here. I was hungry. I was defeated. I was happy. I was sad. I was in love. I was afraid. I was hopeful. I had an idea and I had a good purpose and that's why I made works of art."
~Felix Gonzalez-Torres

In your light I learn how to love,
In your beauty; how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest,
where no one sees you,
but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art.
~Rumi

When the soul
wishes to experience something,
she throws an image
of the experience before her
and enters into her own image.
~ Meister Eckart

The soul... never thinks without a picture.
~ Aristotle

"... The divine has such passionate creativity and instinct for the fully inhabited life. If you allow yourself to be the person that you are, then everything will come into rhythm. If you live the life you love, you will receive shelter and blessings. Sometimes the great famine of blessing in and around us derives from the fact that we are not living the life we love, rather we are living the life that is expected of us. We have fallen out of rhythm with the secret signature and light of our own nature."
~ John O'Donohue, from Anam Cara

WHEN I DARE TO BE powerful—to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.
~ Audre Lorde

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that
something else is more important than fear.
~ Ambrose Redmoon

In life, as in dance: Grace glides on blistered feet.
~ Alice Adams

Thanks for the kind words. I am a big fan of your collage work. I am always fascinated by what artists can put together working in this medium. I have been wanting to add some collage elements to my work for quite some time, but have not worked out a way to do it, while still keeping to the overall feel of the work. I realize that it can't help but change things of course, but I would like it to exist as an additional element that still relates to all the others. Lately, I have been hand painting and drawing over magazine pages, trying to create some interesting patterns that could then be cut out as abstract shapes. I guess I just need to keep at it.

Raine - your website is sterling - wonderful job.  I maintain that your work is some of the most beautiful work I have seen and invokes gentle, sometimes strong emotions, especially with the gorgeous poetry.  It hits right in that place of being that connects us to spirit.  You have a gift.  Thank you for sharing it!!!!!  I wish you continued success and blessings on your talented spirit!

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
