Quote on color

Posted on September 21, 2011 at 10:36pm 0 Comments

"Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the harmonies, the  soul is the piano with many strings. The artist is the hand that plays, touching one key or another, to cause vibrations in the soul."
Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944),

Remember my first exhibition post....I sold a painting last week

Posted on June 24, 2010 at 4:44am 11 Comments

It is only week three of the business being opened, but I found out yesterday a piece was sold. Thanks everyone again for the encouragement.

Along with this news I was given an invitation at another shop which is also on the trolley line (on a different street) to hang some art and to participate in a show this Fall. It's all really exciting and I'm happy to share the news with my art peeps!

Yes or no; to use this photo

I'm getting some images together for a black and white photo study of landscape images. I have several others that I like but this one I am on the fence and could use some input. I like the tree and the contrasts in several parts of the photo which make it interesting. What do you think I've pushed up the contrast and that's about it for editing.…

First Exhibition

Posted on May 30, 2010 at 3:34am 10 Comments

I feel so excited and so lucky to have been selected at a new market to display my work. Although they wanted more ( I know...weird, considering my skill level); I selected about 18 pieces (paintings and photographs) to hang. I framed everything. The work is hung and am so excited. The market is set to open next week, but I don't expect it to really get rolling for another week or two afterwards. The market is about two block from the famous Sun Studios in Memphis and is…

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive large format printer?

Posted on December 6, 2009 at 2:30am 7 Comments

I'm just wanting to be able to produce larger prints for proof and for other projects onto various papers. I want a good resolution but not necesarily commercial quality and do not want to buy ink all the time. It would be idea if I could use a refill ink system if that's available. I also want to be able to use other paper than standard white or photographic papers. The price range needs to be in the "starving" artist range. :)

Water Welcoming Dawn is so beautiful! I can see from your work why you liked my Autumn Gift....it's the colors and the trees! Love your work.

Thanks for the positive comment. I used gloss gel and acrylics for "Moon Dance". Included in my palette of regular heavy bodied paints are metallic paints. So much fun. Your gallery of work is amazing - even though you haven't been painting long.

Thank you for the kind comments. I believe life experiences have possible potential with outstanding results in art if we use the emotion (good or bad) to move forward in creating. For me, it helps me sort through things mentally and have productive artistic results that cannot be reproduced.

Have a great week! Thanks again for taking time to comment...I hope we may keep in touch! artfully yours, -Milton

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
