My muse has suddenly gone quiet!

Posted on April 13, 2009 at 1:01pm 4 Comments

Logged on to see if I can look at some photos and become inspired to create something wonderful. :) I made several backgrounds today using new techniques, watercolor on baby wipes, watercolor on paper towel with gel medium to assemble the torn pieces, etc. I really am loving the way they turned out, but sadly I think I used up all my creative energies for today. I wanted to do another project to completion, but I went into the craft room and came up with nothing....zilch.....zero....no creative… Continue

Klimt challenge

Posted on March 30, 2009 at 10:35pm 1 Comment

The nude Klimt challenge has really stretched my abilities. I am really enjoying being so inspired though. Inspiration hit out of nowhere last night and kept me up past midnight working on this project. That NEVER happens to me, but it's a good thing...except that I'm really tired this morning, lol.

I was late in joining the challenge, so I'm not sure I will finish by the end of the month, but who knows....perhaps I will at that. I also need to finish some ATCs for a swap, but right… Continue

Taking Photos of artwork

Posted on March 24, 2009 at 12:42pm 4 Comments

In addition to some formal art courses, I think I seriously need some tips in taking photos of ATCs, and other finished projects. I ALWAYS get a terrible glare and the detail (which is usually what makes a piece special) is lost in the photo. Frustrating.

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
