Profile Information

Which of the following best describe you?
Encaustic Artist
How did you hear about Loving Mixed Media?
Google looking for collage and then found Gary on you tube. Same day sent for latest dvd. I'm inspired by the way Gary shares his life and art so generously. Art can be a lonely place if all around are stuck on realistic visions. I've been worn down by 'what is it exactly'? conversations and need some friends. Nobody else seems to be in my head space on the creative front. Oh yeah I gabble on a lot ;^D
Describe your style of art and materials you like to use?
Mixed media. I like to make collages, paint, draw, take photographs and observe art. Always thinking about art, how I can learn more and love making new arty friends.

Long time since I posted on here, lot of water under bridge so we will skip that and get onto my current art status.

I owe a lot to Gaz and other artists on here, for getting me interested in lots of art, for keeping me going when seriously depressed and for just being them and doing their thing.…

Thanks for the address Joan. I do several auctions in a month, and there is often old paper ephemera.  Mainly from house clearances. A lot of it goes for pennies. I bought a suitcase full magazines from the 1940's for £2. Also, a lot of older stuff isnt quite old enough to be collectable yet so it's cheap. I have a collection of about 8,000 matchbox labels, many little works of art in their own right, which I have gathered for pennies over the years. Old cigarette cards to. So, if there's anything specific you like, or a genre that you prefer, let me know and I'll look out for some bargains for you.

OOOoooooo! I never saw the photos of the interior of your boxes! I love the vintage. It is very cool the way you have taken simple materials like foil and transformed them into something else entirely. I thought it was clay before I saw some of your older photos. They are very special.

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
