How did you hear about Loving Mixed Media?
Last year I was part of LLM but due to personal reason, had to leave. Things are going awesome now and so I'm back.
Describe your style of art and materials you like to use?
Primarily working with acrylic paint, I also use various other media such as graphite, charcoal, ink, handmade papers and watercolor. I'm constantly at awe with the layers and textures that this technique achieves and tend approach subjects with a realistic yet whimsical hand.

Busy...Busy...Zombies

Posted on May 12, 2012 at 12:22am 2 Comments

It's been a busy few weeks. I've been in a few art shows the past month that went really, really well and now I have to work on more pieces for shows in July. No rest for the wicked :)

My grandmother just had brain surgery but everything went extremely well and she's back home now. My duty over the next week is to stay with her while my parents are at work. It gave me a good excuse to take off of work and I should be able to get some painting in while spending time with her. We've had…

I'm such a slacker....

I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't been visiting this site as often as I should, as there are soooo many wonderful, talented artists here. I've been in a rut lately and haven't done much creating and then I remembered Loving Mixed Media. I'm starting to feel the tickle of creative energy in my fingers. Thank you Gary and everyone else for the continued inspiration.

I just wanted to share with those in or around the Houston, Texas area. I've been honored to be a member of HAC since the end of last year and it's opened up huge opportunities for me. On June 18, 2011 from 1pm-5pm, I'll be showing my art along with a bunch of really great artists and members of HAC. If you're in the area, stop on by. Feel free to share the event on Facebook, twitter or what have you. Word of mouth is one of the greatest marketing tools.

This is the event we…

Hi Heather, I am really enjoying your work, your figures are so iconic in a way and I like the way they layer with their environments...

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
