Profile Information

How did you hear about Loving Mixed Media?
I was invited by a friend.
Dr. Krishna Kumari Challa did her Ph.D. in Microbiology. She is also a self-taught artist who specializes in Art From Science. She is also a writer, a poet, a designer, a social activist and a network creator. She explores the relationship between Art and Science on her artist network, Art Lab. She has been creating art for the past five years. Bringing together science, art, religion and philosophy to create harmony between all these aspects of life is a challenge which attracted her attention.
She did one solo exhibition, “Cosmic Show of Science”, in Hyderabad, India in 2008, group shows in Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Jodhpur, Goa and Jaipur in India in 2009, and a group show in Copenhagen (Denmark, Europe) in 2010.
She is also participating in Izmir Bienale (Turkey)in May, 2011
Art for Dr.Challa is life itself. It should represent everything associated with life. As modern day life is closely intertwined with the culture of Science and Technology, she wants science too to be represented in the world of art. She thinks science and art are two sides of the same coin. Exploring this relationship between art and science is a beautiful experience of a fulfilled life!
She is working on several paintings & some installations now.

Just a little welcome to all our new members of Encaustic art group and a re-hello to old members.
How are you all going with your encaustic journey.Let em know what is going on with your work. I am happy to answer any questions on waxing or to debate anything with you.
If you have found any encaustic artists that you would like to share with us all that would also be fab.
I am really keen to see members work and really get this group going a bit more. Tell me what you want to see in here. Or any new ideas that would be good for our group, which is now topping 127 members.
Hoo Roo(aussie goodbye)

Hello :) - I'm sorry to tell you that the Art Therapy group is full. I thank you for your interest, but unfortunately it filled up much faster than I expected so I can't take the last 11 people. I am still waiting for responses from a few of those who requested to join earlier so If anyone cancels or withdraws in the first week I'll take people that missed out.

I do hope that you are interested enough for me to place you on the list for the September group. I'd hate to think you missed out completely and I'd love for you to join. I had a look at your website and think your artworks is wonderful. I love the way you use colour.

Feel free to add me as a friend so you can email me about any questions you may have, I'd be happy to answer and have a chat. Again I'm sorry but I do hope to see you in the September group :)

Happy Creating
Nicole

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
