Which of the following best describe you?
Painter, Techniques Hunter, Photographer
How did you hear about Loving Mixed Media?
from a fellow artist
Describe your style of art and materials you like to use?
My approach to painting is very intuitive and experimental. My mood, the materials, the format, the colors chosen, all contribute to the finished result. Nothing is planned, however I often start with some inspiration...which could be a color palette, a composition, an object...anything really. I often work on more than one painting at a time since leaving things to dry often brings you to a different place visually.
My process is really that of creation, editing ( by covering up parts that don't appeal to me) layering, texturizing, until I arrive at a combination that works. Therefore each piece comes with it's own 'history'.
I have numerous books describing various techniques and I refer to them at times when I get stuck...or just to try something new. Mostly I create textured grounds, use textured papers, cheesecloth, cardboard, etc. I scrape, drip, squeegee, resist, recycle and destroy as necessary.
I gravitate to abstracted landscapes, but I often arrive at a purely abstract, non-representationsl image.

How many more hours to go?????

In Malcolm Gladwell's book 'Outliers' he examines what it takes to become successful (at anything).  Apparently, ANYONE...regardless of so called 'natural talent' REQUIRES at least 10,000 hrs of practice before mastery can be achieved!!!

I've got some work to do!

Hi Donna! Thanks for your invitation and i just read your description of your work which i do enjoy a lot and do come back for! Each piece is unique and yet they all go together with such interesting colour combinations! There are some great artists on this side and we all do find a few matches to our own art but i love the diversity and admire all sorts of art.One of my favourites is Ulla Gmeiner, she has a great webside on google, her work is very delicate and poetic as yours.Have a great festive season from me in the South of France, love,Elke

Hi Donna! Thanks for checking out my first blog (ever) - and telling me a little about yourself. I could spend ages looking at your lovely pics, exploring every nook and cranny, trying to work out how you did them. Thank you so much for sharing these!

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
