"I too have had loss. In 10 years time, a son, my mom, and my husband of 45 years, but I have the hopeful expectation of a joyful reunion someday. That is why I titled this little piece: "A LIGHT SHINING IN THE DARK""

"thank you Kay, mixed media is exciting. There is so much you can do that you cannot do with traditional art mediums. I painted for years, but this stuff is sooo much fun. Now I have a hard time with a flat surface. Gots to junk it up.lol"

How did you hear about Loving Mixed Media?
A friend told me about it. I love net-working with other artists, and seeing what is going on in the art world. In other words, I'm an art junkie that can't get enough.

Treasure hunting

Went treasure hunting today at a friends warehouse. (some people might call it dumpster diving) Found lots of good stuff for new assemblages. It is so amazing what makes some of us happy. A little rust, some old cardboard. Wood!!!! found the top of an old table..small, heavy, but it will make a wonderful box for a new piece of "art". It even has a brace in the middle that will give me two spaces to work in. wooohooo!

I also made gesso today. It is so expensive, but the recipe on the net… Continue

Choice

A lot of my work comes from Biblical passages. This one comes from the passage in Matthew 6 :29 that talks about the eye being the lamp of the body. When it is dark the whole body is bad, and when it is light the whole body is good. (paraphrased) Thus the switch etc. It is about choice.

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
