So, several of my friends are supremely talented. One has begged me to see my writing for awhile and I have been so scared to show them. To me it is more intimate to show someone you care about your…Continue

Not to be too much of a downer, but I thought it might be interesting to read about moments that we've all had with our art (whether visual, written, auditory, etc.) that have at least temporarily…Continue

I noticed on the profile section that you can select "writer" as what best describes you, but I realize most folks on here are doing visual art- painting, drawing, sculpting, mixed media, and…Continue

Hi all! I have been wanting to do mixed media for a long time and have been gathering found pieces, cheaply purchased pieces, and forming ideas on compositions. However, I've never really done a…Continue

I wanted to get some assistance on improving this poem, but I'm a little hesitant to post it. I am self conscious about my work, but I actually appreciate constructive criticism because I want to improve. My main reason for hesitating is that, I fear this might offend some folks, and while art is sometimes meant to offend, that isn't the actual purpose of this poem, it just happens to be a side affect of my decision to use religious figures and events to illustrate a point. So, I feel a…

. As for your question, the item that looks like leaves is a string of crystals I picked up at Christmas. I think it was meant to be a garland for a mini Christmas tree.

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
