Not to be too much of a downer, but I thought it might be interesting to read about moments that we've all had with our art (whether visual, written, auditory, etc.) that have at least temporarily…Continue

Leaf and Natural Twig Arrangement

A leaf and natural, fan like twig arrangement on stone, found beside a lake in my county of Kentucky. The blurry lines through this are a result of downsizing the photo for the site.

A Multi-Stanza Haiku (Long- & with discussion)

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 12:20pm 5 Comments

I wanted to get some assistance on improving this poem, but I'm a little hesitant to post it. I am self conscious about my work, but I actually appreciate constructive criticism because I want to improve. My main reason for hesitating is that, I fear this might offend some folks, and while art is sometimes meant to offend, that isn't the actual purpose of this poem, it just happens to be a side affect of my decision to use religious figures and events to illustrate a point. So, I feel a…

Thanks for the comments on my bride.. As for your question, the item that looks like leaves is a string of crystals I picked up at Christmas. I think it was meant to be a garland for a mini Christmas tree.

Hi Cari, Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and viewing my painting photos. Yes, it's hard to take direct in-your-face criticism especially because art is ALL about emotion and we tend to take it too personally to heart. But I've learnt that the trick is to take what advise can best improve my work and leave the rest with the person that tried to give it to me.. hehe.
I read your blog too and I hope you wont let the "critics" get the better of ya. I hope your art blossoms even more!

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
