Promise

“I have Loved you for a Thousand Years…
And I will Love you for a Thousand more”

She continued to love him deeply everyday, although he will never return to her. She knew that if she were the one who went to war, he would have done the same for her. It was a promise they made to each other …

Many years pass and it came her time to leave too. She looked at the book one last time, and closed it. She locked it, and kept it in a safe place.

For within those pages, lie her memories of him, and her heart ... Perhaps one day, when another finds it, she and her love one would find 'happily ever after' … and the heart within would start to beat once again …

This Miniature ArtBook combines old leather, metal, antique brass elements, stained linen, stained gauze, fibers, stained paper, rusted mesh, polymer clay, clay and paint.

This piece took me many hours to construct as each page is lovingly burned by incense and fashioned in a way that the burned hole in the middle of the page tapers towards a blood red heart. I have also included little features like miniature music notes, miniature love letters/postcards and miniature dictionary excerpts in between the stained blank pages. This ArtBook was made to resemble a piece of memory, a very old book ravaged by time.

* This Miniature ArtBook measures approximately 3 inches x 2 inches

* Because of how this book was conceptualized, it is a fragile piece of artwork and needs careful handling. (as would a very old book)

* NOTE : This is NOT a journal for writing, this is an Art Work.

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
