I know I could paint like this someday, portraits I mean, with this color and depth...I'd give anything to be able to.  The patience factor though...I guess I really don't need to deep down or something because it just won't happen.  I just don't have the patience.  But if I could, this would be the way I would do it.  This is just beautiful!

yes, it is strange, perhaps it is just because we don't have the uninterrupted time to concentrate often enough?

The satisfaction is enormous when it works, but then there's a huge disappointment cause it happens so rarely. I've noticed also that it lasts for a very short period of time, if im not able to finish it on time it will stay unfinished probably for years... And i have so many unfinished paintings around lol!

isn't it great when it just seems to "work"? I am having the same thing, I would love to paint with a palette knife and really thick paint but it is much harder than it seems when you imagine it...

Thank you Daniele, Mary and Elke.

Danielle, the story behind this is that i just wanted to paint with oils so much that one afternoon i was listening to this guy's music -hes a singer and musician- and it was one of those times when your hand just does the right things -havent been able to paint with thick paste ever since-! And I want to somehow send this painting to him as a gift some day. Im in the mood of giving all my painting away!

Elke yes its a 20x20 cm canvas, the three are close ups, the actual painting is the upper left one.

yes, that is  really you! Always into interesting human studies!

Are you sure it's 20x20cm with seems small for three portraits?

Love this painting.  Makes me want to know more about the story behind it.

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
