RED!

Something easy and versatile for the start of the group so everyone can dip their toes and feel comfortable. The theme for this month is RED. Just that - RED. It can be anything at all that has RED in it. It's coming into Fall so you could do Red fall theme or you can be walking around town and see a big RED sign - you could be doing a portrait or snapping pictures of people and someone has a Red Coat on. Anything RED. You can think in the box or out of the box as long as your box is Red and Red is the prominent feature or colour in your photo.

* Photoshopping is allowed but the Red colour must be present in the image before any photo editing. No adding of the colour post processing.

* The PhotoBabble for October is simply an introduction and a request for your ideas so pop over to the Page section under October and have a look or click HERE to go right to the page.

I like the lights the best.  It's surprising how such an everyday object holds your attention for so long.  there's lots to look at there.  I used to have a red light in my bedroom.  Now I have a red lightshade, does the trick!

Yes you have put the photos in the right place but unfortunately they are all too big.

The max size for any uploaded photos on the site is 120kb.

Sorry but you will have to resize photos before you upload.

I took a walk around my garden and within 50 meters of my house -- and got these.  These are just quick snaps with my Konica Minolta Dimage 400.  I took these on a grayish day so the colour pops nicely.  I'll be printing a bigger version of the collage for artwork cutups.

A nice lil harvest festival you've got going on there!

how fantastic!!! what a wonderful way to collect and see all the different reds around you every day - this gives me some ideas for a future challenge.

WOW, what a great collection of photos. Would be a great collage to print off and have displayed somewhere in your house.
very coool

Everyone is doing such a fantastic job! I'm so happy to see so many people go out and snap happy with such lovely and often interesting results. And all the wonderful feedback and support is everything we as organisers had hoped the group would produced. Thank you everyone for making this group work and we look forward to coming up with interesting achievable and challenging themes for you all in the upcoming months.

It's half way through the first month so if anyone has any suggestions or comments etc they would like to discuss with me regarding the group or maybe even some questions regarding their images they don't want discussed in public please email me at nicole_taylor@blueyonder.co.uk - you are all doing a fantastic job at making this group work so a big THANK YOU!

Remember it's a month long challenge and you are not limited by one image post so keep it up and keep snapping and challenging yourself and sharing. We are loving your creativity :)

Stumbled on this stunning tree in the wild and woolly mountains on the Virginia/West Virginia border.

taken with my canon eos using a fixed 50 mm lens.

Nice one.  It looks like this scrawny tree has put every last bit of energy it has into looking pretty for you.

and here's another shot on top of the mountain - at my friends' camp

That'll teach him for munching on the gerainiums!!!!
I'm new to this group; unsure where to upload my photos, etc. Love the discussion, insights, information. Am a fool for red--this was the first thing I laid eyes on this morning...grabbed my Nikon D90 with 18-105 mm lens and snapped.

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
