Hi Mary - I'm in Georgia too.  North of Atlanta.  I buy at both Blicks Art Supply in Roswell and The Artful Barn in Cleveland (north of Dahlonega).  I find the prices pretty good but encaustic can be expensive anyways.  I usually get the wax and the resin and mix my own colors - though I've found some colors don't mix well and I'll buy the premixed colors at those stores I mentioned... like white.  I can buy a better white then I can mix myself.

Josephus - I don't know how far this is from Portland but EncaustiCamp is held just outside of Seatle Washington.  http://www.pbsartist.com/encausticamp/  This is a 5 day retreat-all-things-encaustic.  I've not been but i'm dying to go!!!!

A friend in Portland, Oregon, asks me if there are any encaustic painters there who do workshops or give  other instruction. He spent some time in my place recently and thinks he would like to learn more.

Thank you, Josephus, our shops get beeswax from a (secret!) local (Dutch) provider but for the paints I will recommend them R&F.

Coming to this discussion late but I would think R&F Paints would ship abroad. Did you try Britain for beeswax?

Thank you so much, Susan, Michael en Linda! I will look into that, so far the same supplier..

Kama is located in Montreal and sells just about anything that the encaustic artist needs to make encaustic mediums and paints; a variety of waxes, resins and pigments. They ship across Canada , but I do not know if they will ship internationally. They are pleasant people to deal with so perhaps you could send them an email or Skype them with any questions. Good Luck. I understand your frustration, I also have difficulty sourcing these things in here in Chile where I live for a large part of each year, so now I "import" everything I need each time I come in from North America.

I wish I could help but I don't know how much business the suppliers want to do abroad. You should check with your local customs regulator. I've bought from Kama pigments before but I don't remember seeing any wax or damar that they were selling. It was just dry pigment, oil paint and brushes with a few other tools. They also had a great selection of colors.

Hi Ioana, I live in Canada and our choices are not nearly as extensive as the U.S. and we do buy American products, particularly R&F and Encaustikos. There is a Canadian supplier named Kama Pigments which comes highly recommended, from whom I will try next time I order pigments. Is this the information you are looking for, or do you need more detail?

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
