Hi all,

I'm Jenn and I'm a watercolor & mixed media artist. My first painting here is a macro flower. I just loved the color of this flower so I decided to capture it with a little artistic vision thrown in, lol. A painting/drawing a day is such a great idea, I tend to be a procrastinator and allow the rest of life overwhelm me. I want to create more art, it's what I WANT to do, not what I should do.

Here's my piece.

Artist: Jennifer McLean

Medium: Holbein watercolors

Paper: Arches 140lb cold pressed

Title: The Petals (I couldn't come up with anything else, went blank. I'd take suggestions though!)

Welcome to painting a day. Beautiful petals. Like how you filled the paper.

Hi Darlene, glad to be here, and thanks for the compliment. It was a fun one to do, I love doing the colorful paintings best. I'm all about the color!

Welcome and great contribution, I love your colours too. I am having such trouble with colour LOL but not giving up!!

look forward to seeing more from you each day!

This is really nice, Jenn. Is this a full sheet of WC paper? If it is it's even more WOW! I assume since it's a drawing a day maybe it is not a full sheet- unless you are a really fast painter! LOL Nice work no matter what size it is.

Oh, thanks Mo, compliments make me soooo happy, lol. Nope, it's not a full sheet, I WISH!! It's about 12x18, I haven't taken the leap to do a full 22x30 sheet, although I do have a 300lb sheet awaiting my confidence. I have a larger painting going now, a macro flower again so we'll see how it goes, lol.

Thanks again for your kind words!

Best,

Jenn of JustAddWaterSilly.com

Loverly!!!

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
