I havent posted any of my art yet, mainly because i didnt have a camera. Now i do, i'm wondering if some of my art would offend.
I use a lot of natural things that i find whilst in the woods or fields, including bones etc. Some of the things i've used include: Birds wings; birds legs; skulls, jaw bone, shedded snake skins etc. My family says its gruesome, which i can understand, but i see it differently. To me, using a bird wing is no different than using leather (they are both from a dead creature). However, if it would offend, i would refrain from posting such work.
Please let me know, as I would hate to upset anyone.

Permalink Reply by Marie Reeves Knight on January 6, 2011 at 11:43pm Thankyou so much everyone. I really wasnt at all sure. We live in such a 'politically correct' world these days. I would just like to point out that being pagan i would never take a life. Everything i use is collected from the already dead, and in a way, sacred to me.
Becky, its nice to know i'm not the only one that hangs dead things. The hedge on my field looks like it belongs in the chainsaw massacre back yard (foxes, dear and birds at the moment). I skin them and use the faces for masks, but also incorporate parts of their fur into art and pagan objects for my friends.
Mo, i really do think i've found my home. I'm loving it here. Thankyou so much Gary for this brilliant site.
Brian, youre a very disturbed little boy. I think i like you.
Now all i have to do is figure out how to use my new camera.

Permalink Reply by Grant Dowling on January 8, 2011 at 12:05pm Mo, if you want to save your bones dont forget to use a de-greaser on them. Any household de-greaser will do. If you dont they can stain your art. If you'd like to know how I can post it for you.
HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.
And this is the completed screen ready for printing. I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
