Whether you are a crazy painter, a hoarding assemblage artist, encaustic lover, street/graffiti wannabe, printmaker dynamo, sculptor, photographer, film maker, etc. There is a magazine for you!

Which are your favorite Arts Magazines and why?

Do you get annoyed when you buy an arts magazine and it is filled with 80% advertisements and promotions? I know magazines make a lot of revenue on this but come on, we don't buy the magazine for the adverts now do we! We want content, interesting stories..RIGHT?

Hey, I like Juxtapoz, it's has lots of cool articles and great art pic's, some contemporary, some abstract, graffiti.
Excellent! I think I have a copy somewhere;) Must check it out again. Thanks for sharing
It drives me insane with all the adverts.  I hate how hard some of these magazines are to get hold of so you buy them online without being able to flick through to see if they have enough value to you to be able to justify buying them as they are not cheap.  I do admit though that you can discover something you hadnt previously considered.  BTW Gary I love how you have your image on the front of the issue of Australian Art Collector, however when you click on the image to make it larger some other bloke appears instead of you!

I like 'Artist Profile'. Its an aussie mag but filled with interviews with up and coming artists. The ydescribe their process, motivation and there are great images to look at as well. There are ads, but hey they are about art stuff so I am interested. Loads of content and they have a good web page

have a look its good.

You should put in a submission Mo!
hah gary will be on the front cover of those magazines, i betcha!
I am I am....well photoshoped LOL

too be honest I dont read them any more and yes mostly I find tooo many adds annoying,

when I did look ar arty mags it was usually architectural ones as well as interior/jewellery/photographic design and I have been known to enjoy Harpers Bazaar for its design and photography but the mags politics suck .....all that fur and child labour sewing on sequins on famous brand runners etc ;) ........I have a passion for exhibition catalogues tho:) ..

I generally like to look at other styles of creative pursuits other than what I am working on /with at the time sooooo I enjoy engineering mags ;)..joke joyce!

I  love looking at boat building orthographic drawings...now  that IS true:: ....and i totally go ballistic with unashamed pleasure over a movie's list of credits  sorta joking ... i love fonts ..!

I am ALWAYS the last one to leave the theatre /movie

i watched a video last night in which the artist used a harper's bazaar and citrasolv! looked interesting

what is Harper's Bazaar?

diana oh sounds intresting.. would you be able to post the link ???

gary its a 'high'end fashion mag or rather its a mag full of high end adds ;) aparently there is a lot of soul selling  to be able to pay for the fee to have a full page spread ..but I, m a tad cynical ..so please excuse me :) the fashilon photography is amongst world best ...very Bizzare often :)

HERE ARE 2 LINKS to TWO of my youtube videos talking and demonstrating about this amazing product:

So once i have my image printed onto transparency film, I take my Ezscreen silk screen which has been coated in light sensitive emulsion (These sheets come pre-coated so they are ready to use). Place it onto a black board, then place the transparency image on top (this part needs to be done in a dark room with no direct sunlight). I take it outside and expose it for 1 minute and 40 seconds (but time varies depending on time of day and strength of sunlight). After i have exposed the image i place it into a tub of water for around 5 - 8 minutes. Then i rinse the screen out under fast running water until the unexposed area (the black) washes away. I then expose the screen to the sun for a further 20mins to completely harden the light sensitive emulsion.

And this is the completed screen ready for printing.  I simply use an old credit card to spread the ink over the screen making sure i do one complete full stroke across the screen (holding the credit card at a 45 degree angle). I immediately wash the screen out under fast flowing water and pat dry. I use fabric screen printing ink which washes out in water (which makes the process easy).

I love this product, their website is http://ezscreenprint.com/ (for full instructions and details on how to purchase this awesome product).
